How You Can Help

The need for food is growing. Second Harvest distributed more than 3.6 million pounds of food in 2002, and estimates that number will climb to nearly 4 million this year. Your support helps ensure that we can supply those in need. Here's how you can help:

Financial Gifts

Your tax-deductible contributions help ensure that no one goes hungry in our communities. With every dollar that you contribute, we can provide 7 meals to those in need. $10 can provide 70 meals; a $100 donation provides 700 meals. Contributions can be mailed to Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin, 2802 Dairy Drive, Madison, WI 53718.

Food Donations

There are many ways to donate food to Second Harvest. Businesses, schools and organizations can sponsor food and/or fund drives. Individuals and families can drop off food at our warehouse. Manufacturers and distributors provide critical support by donating surplus food to Second Harvest.

The foods we need most are peanut butter, jelly, tuna, spaghetti sauce, pasta, canned fruit and juice, meals in a can or box (like Hamburger/Tuna Helper), cereal and crackers.

Volunteer

Volunteers are essential to the food bank's operation, donating over 1000 hours of service each month. As we distribute more food, the need for volunteer help also increases. We can work with individuals and groups that want to volunteer – whether on a regular basis or as a one-time service project.
