I want to extend my best wishes to all our members for a Happy Thanksgiving.
The Shamrock Club Lunch Bunch will be gathering at O'Grady's Irish Pub & Grille, 7436 Mineral Point Road on October 24th with a business meeting at noon followed by the luncheon at 1:00 pm. Individual checks will be requested. No program is being planned. There is no Badger home football game that day. This is always a good time to get together with other members and to meet new members. You are always welcome to bring a guest. Please call me at 277-0394 if you are planning to attend.
Our next meeting will be on November 17th at the Coliseum Bar. A business meeting will be held at
6:00 pm followed by a program at 7:00 pm. The program will be a "Team Trivia Nite." Teams will be formed from the members present and cash prizes will be awarded. This is intended to be fun rather than a competition. I hope we get a good group to participate.
Plans are well underway for the Shamrock Club Christmas Party. It will be held at the Coliseum Bar
on Sunday, December 6th from 12:30 - 4 pm. There is no Packer game on that date. Teri McCormick is
the chairperson for this event. You will find a reservation form inserted in this newsletter. I hope you will support the club by attending. This will get you an early start on this year's Christmas celebration.
2010 Membership Drive starts with November. A membership renewal form is inserted in this
newsletter. We request an early response to help in planning for the coming year and to reduce follow-up costs. If you know of anyone who might be interested in the club, please inform MaryLou Feller, membership chair whose contact information is on the last page. The board of directors has voted to retain the annual dues of $20 for a single and $30 for a family membership. It was decided to maintain the fee level since other costs for members have increased.
Irish Person of the Year nominations will soon be due. Members should begin to think about their choice for nominee. Nominations must be submitted in writing and received by January 5, 2010. This is an important event each year. The club has awarded this honor each year to one or more persons since 1976. The person selected will be awarded a plaque and be honored at the St. Patrick's Day Dinner, at the Capitol Flag Ceremony and with a ride in the St. Patrick's Day Parade. I hope you will consider nominating a person worthy of this honor.
Advertisers are needed for the newsletter. Advertising revenues pay for the printing and mailing of the monthly newsletter. The club charges $60 per year for each ad. If you know or can suggest a business, you can have them contact me or give me the information as to whom I can contact.
