Volunteer Opportunities

Lawn Care-Mower

There is a constant need for volunteers to help older adults with chores that have become too much for them to handle by themselves and mowing the lawn is one of them.

Lawn Care-Raker

Each season brings with it different challenges for older adults. Interested volunteers should have a strong back, a good heart and be willing to help rake the yards of area older adults to combat the seasonal demand.

Computer Restorator

Our office needs help getting our old computers ready for donation. If you know some computer basics and would be able to clean out our old information and install some new information, we need your help!

Handymen and Women

If you have a knack for fixing things and want to lend your talents to others in you community, this is the opportunity for you. The South Madison Coalition of the Elderly has a number of odd jobs that could use a creative mind and strong hands on an as needed basis.

Home Chore Assistant

Many of our older adults have a need for someone friendly and caring to help them with home chores. This program assists frail older adults with basic home chores to help them remain independent and in their own homes.

Office Assistant

We are looking for an honest and trustworthy person to help us with a variety of administrative tasks in our new office. Help us sort our mail, copy memos, file documents and do other various jobs once a week or so.

Bingo Caller

Enjoy an afternoon with older adults by calling Bingo. This activity is part of The Neighborhood Senior Center, where programs are scheduled in low-income housing, to provide older adults with socialization.

Meal Server

If you have a few free hours during the week day, come join us as we serve meals to older adults. Volunteers will assist with food prep, home deliver meals, serving meals, cleaning up afterward and visiting with the older adults attending the program.

Volunteer Guardian

Volunteer Guardian will assist older adults who are in need of guardian due to such conditions as dementia, or chronic mental illness and have no family members to assist. Volunteers serve as a court appointed advocate for older adults who need help with decisions about care and welfare, and sometimes their financial matters. Staff from the coalition will provide training and ongoing support to the volunteer.
