The Sound of Madison Chorus is a group of women of all ages who love to sing four-part harmony, barbershop style. We are affiliated with Sweet Adelines International. Our chorus recently won third place in the small chorus division at our regional competition in Green Bay. We were thrilled to win our first ever competition award and especially to achieve this because of the hard work and dedication of all chorus members (9 of whom were competing for the first time) and the guidance of our talented director, Nancy Pike, who serves as coach, teacher, director and general cheerleader. The Sound of Madison will be performing at Lake Edge Lutheran Church (4032 Monona Drive) on Tuesday, December 16, at 7:30 p.m. The chorus's hour long performance will include secular and sacred holiday music sung in 4-part harmony, a cappella style. Admission is free. The chorus will be collecting non-perishable food items for St. Stephan's food pantry. We invite women who love to sing to visit our rehearsals to see what we are all about and join in the fun. See the 'Visit Us' section for further details (link on the right side of this page). We regularly entertain at both public and private events in the Madison, Wisconsin area. Our repertoire consists of a wide variety of music, including old favorites, gospel, patriotic, and contemporary. If your organization is looking for entertainment for an upcoming event, please see the 'Hire Us' page for further information (link on the right side of this page). A note about barbershop singing: Barbershop, a music form native to the United States, is produced by the blend of four voice parts: lead (singing the melody), tenor (the highest part), bass (the lowest part) and baritone (who 'fills out' the chord). The songs are sung without instrumental accompaniment. |
