E-Mail: MAPS@MAPS-INC.COM "Eco-municipality/Sustainability" Let us talk about improving our lives, making more money and saving the planet. No joke! We can improve our lives, make more real money by reducing costs and our actions will benefit the planet. We can do this by learning about and participating in the Eco-Municipality Movement, "The Natural Step" program and being more sustainable in our daily actions. We can do this as individuals, as part of our family and with our company/clients. It is truly a win-win-win program. What is The Natural Step (TNS) of Sustainability? It is a process/program system that aspires to develop an ecologically, economically and socially healthy community for the long term. To be successful we will need to change as individuals. When we change as individuals we can change how we do business as individuals, family and business "The Impact of Wisconsin's New Comprehensive Planning Law." Review the legislation and the state's impact on community planning in Wisconsin prior to 1999 and the changes in the law and the impact they will have on Wisconsin communities. Expertise: 35+ years experience in Wisconsin doing comprehensive planning. Needs: None. Madison Downtown Rotary member. Updated 5/07 Amanda Purington, Volunteer Coordinator for Habitat for Humanity Restore. (608)661-2813, apurington@restoredane.org. The Habitat ReStore is a building materials reuse and surplus center that benefits Habitat for Humanity of Dane County. The Habitat ReStore in Madison is one of 500 similar stores in the nation, but it was the first of its kind here in Wisconsin. We are open to the public, and since it opened in 2001 has generated enough funds to build 15 Habitat for Humanity homes and diverted over 3000 tons of usable construction material from the landfill. The Habitat ReStore also operates a Deconstruction program that removes salvageable building materials from buildings scheduled for demolition. Amanda is able to speak about what the Habitat ReStore is currently doing (including current deconstruction projects), how you can get more involved, and the environmental and social impact of the Habitat ReStore. She can also give general updates about the building projects of Habitat for Humanity of Dane County. Updated 05/07
