Volunteer Opportunities

Befriend an Adult Resident of the Triangle Area

Triangle Resident and Volunteer
The Triangle Community Ministry is in need of volunteers who are interested in befriending adult residents of the Triangle Area. Many of our residents who are challenged by poverty and physical or mental disabilities are isolated and in need of a support system. If you are a good listener and willing to provide occasional "hands on" support to members of this community, please give us a call. Give time whenever you are able and feel the rewards of a new and interesting relationship.

Training on resident issues incl. mental illness, disability, listening skills and conflict resolution is provided. We ask for an application, references and complete a background check.

Clerical Assistance for Residents of the Triangle Area

The Triangle Community Ministry is in need of interested volunteers who would like to provide clerical assistance to our part-time office staff. We send out quarterly newsletters and other occasional mailings. If you would like to assist with folding, stuffing envelopes,or sorting mailings with a group of friendly people, please give us a call.

No training is required. You will be asked to fill out a volunteer application to have contact and scheduling information on file.

Grocery Shopping with/for Adults with Physical Challenges

Triangle Resident
Assist adult residents of the Triangle by providing transportation to/from the store or by meeting a group at the store and assisting with purchase selection. Some residents are in wheel-chairs, have limited mobility or visual impairments and are relying on friendly help to reach the store or items in the store. Others may need help in decision-making and price comparison.

Potential volunteers are asked to fill out an application, provide driver's license, driving history, and insurance information. A background check will be conducted.

Provide and Serve Refreshments for Adult Residents of the Triangle Area

Resident Entertainment
The Triangle Community Ministry features a occasional entertainment events for our resident population. We are looking for small groups of volunteers who would like to assist with an event by helping to set-up, serve refreshments and take down equipment. If groups are able they can also provide the refreshments.

Volunteers who would like to have recurrent engagement might be asked to complete an application to provide contact information and scheduling preferences. No formal training is required, but having experience and feeling at ease with the elderly and those who are physically or mentally challenged is a plus.

Provide Entertainment for adult residents of the Triangle Area

The Triangle Community Ministry sponsors a regular entertainment programs for adult residents of the Triangle. The programs are held at the Brittingham Apartments.

The residents are adults who may be elderly or have physical or mental challenges and low income. They are often unable to take advantage of entertainment opportunities outside the Triangle due to financial and/or physical barriers. They really look forward to these opportunities. If you (or your group) have some musical talent to share and would like to donate an afternoon or evening of your time, you would be rewarded with many smiles and thank yous.
