Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County Big Brothers and Big Sisters
Being a Big Brother or Big Sister means being a genuine friend to a child. Volunteers make a lasting impact on children's lives simply by listening to what they have to say, offering advice and encouragement, and including them in everyday activities. Single or married, student or grandparent, volunteers from all over Dane County can develop meaningful relationships with their Little Brothers and Little Sisters. All it takes is a few outings each month to make a difference!

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old and have access to transportation. Volunteers make a one-year commitment to the child, with the opportunity to continue the relationship for years to come!

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County Couple Match or Family Match
Volunteer with your significant other as a Couple Match, or include a child in your regular activities through a Family Match! Couple and Family Match opportunities enable volunteers to include a child in activities, board games, discussions or fun outings. It is a perfect way to spend time together, as well as a rewarding experience for the child. And, the Family Match is a wonderful chance to introduce your children to volunteerism -- family fun plus one!

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old and have access to transportation. Volunteers make a one-year commitment to the child, with the opportunity to continue the relationship for years to come! Couples must have been in a committed relationship for at least one year at the time of application. Single-parent families are welcome to apply to become a Family Match.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County SOL Mentors
Do you speak Spanish? Southdale Outreach and Links is a mentoring program serving Latino children in Madison. An ideal opportunity for Spanish-speaking volunteers, SOL seeks adults who can provide children with access to community-wide learning opportunities such as special multicultural events and activities, community service and volunteer experiences. Big Brothers and Big Sisters in the program have the additional opportunity to spend time with their Little Brother or Little Sister and family in large community gatherings, sharing experiences and culture.

Volunteers should be at least 18 years old, have access to transportation and possess conversational Spanish language skills. Volunteers make a one-year commitment to the child, with the opportunity to continue the relationship for years to come!

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County School Friends
The School Friends program invites volunteers to spend time with a Little Brother or Little Sister at the child's elementary or middle school. With pre-arranged meeting times during the lunch hour or after school, the volunteer commitment fits easily into a busy schedule. Eat lunch together, draw on the blackboard, play board games, read a book in the library, or play basketball in the gymnasium. Even just talking about your day creates a special time with lifelong memories.

Volunteers commit to one academic year (two semesters). Volunteers must be at least 16 years old and have access to transportation.

Black Earth Creek Watershed Association 1. Volunteer With BECWA!
Black Earth Creek Watershed Association (BECWA)is a volunteer-based organization. Since its inception, BECWA has relied on the time and dedication of local residents and other watershed supporters to plan and carryout activities in the watershed. Two years ago, BECWA hired its first part-time staff member to help coordinate watershed events, but we still need your help to keep our efforts going!

Brodhead Historical Society Museum Hosts

The Brodhead Historical Society is always looking for and in need of Museum Hosts to serve at the Brodhead Historical Museum. A Museum Host volunteers to serve the three hours from 1 to 4 p.m. on days that the museum is open. The Museum Host keeps an eye on the artifacts in the museum. They also answer questions that visitors may ask. Some Museum Hosts serve in the gift shop. It is a fairly easy and enjoyable task that does not take much of your time. A new Museum Host will be paired with an experienced Museum Host the first time they serve to learn the job.
