Respite Center
|
Child Care Volunteer Volunteers spend time with children in meaningful and nurturing play experiences. Children visiting the Respite Center are from birth to 14 years and are from families experiencing high-levels of stress or crisis. Volunteers work one on one and with small groups of children, from culturally and racially diverse backgrounds with a range of social, emotional, cognitive, and physical developmental levels. THE RESPITE CENTER IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER, AND OUR GOAL IS TO HAVE STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS WHO REFLECT THE RACIAL AND CULTURAL DIVERSITY OF THE CHILDREN WHO VISIT THE RESPITE CENTER. Volunteers work with the support of paid childcare staff. Most volunteers work 4-hours, once a week and make a commitment to the program for a semester, a year, or longer.
A sincere love of children and an ability to function in a sometimes unpredictable environment are necessary. All volunteers must successfully pass an interview and criminal background check.

In the past groups and individuals have helped with a variety of projects, including painting, building a sandbox, and updating our community resources. Call today to find out about current projects available for you or your group!
Individuals or groups need not have any specific skills. Groups matched with projects that fit their abilities and interests. Short introduction to the Respite Center given as background for all groups and individuals.

River Food Pantry
|
Fridays On Friday we are open to public with free clothes, choice food pantry and hot meal. We typically serve 150+ households. It takes 35 -40 volunteers for everything to run smoothly. We need 2 - 3 cooks starting at 1 PM, others can come to help between 4 - 5:30 PM - 9 PM. Volunteers will serve a meal, assist clients in the food and clothing pantries, provide supervision in the children's area and help clean up.

River Food Pantry
|
Thursdays Thursday is our prep day. We need 15 - 20 volunteers from 2 - 6:30 PM. During that time we sort and hang clothes, sort and stock food in the pantry, clean the entire facility and start some prep work for the Friday meal.

Volunteers To keep Ronald McDonald House Charities running, we rely on the ongoing support of our more than 150 volunteers who give so generously of their time each week to help our families. They provide the TLC that truly makes the House a warm, loving home.
Whether welcoming a new family to the House, transporting families to and from the hospital, or organizing a fundraiser, volunteers are the heart and soul of this House.
Being a Ronald McDonald House Charities volunteer is easy, fun and rewarding and requires as little as a few hours a month.
Call us at 608.232.4660 or e-mail us at info@rmhcmadison.org to find out more information on our Volunteer positions.
