Scholarships Available for the Blind & Visually Impaired

The Wisconsin Council of the Blind and Visually Impaired has allocated funds to provide 7 - $1,500 scholarships for full time students in college and vocational school programs as well as 2 - $1,000 scholarships for part-time students enrolled in college and vocational school program.

Cooking Classes for People with Low Vision

The Wisconsin Council of the Blind and Visually Impaired, Inc. and the Willy Street Co-op offer cooking classes for people with low vision.
Our classes teach useful cooking techniques and also provide information about organic food and Co-op services! If you are 16 years of age or older and have experienced vision loss, you are welcome to attend our cooking classes!
Each class will teach individuals with low vision how to prepare a dish from start to finish and then enjoy it together.
Dates: Monday, August 17, 2009, 5:30-7:30 pm and Monday, Sept 28, 2009, 5:30 7:30 pm
Place: Willy Street Co-op's Community Room, 1221 Williamson Street in Madison
Cost: $10.00 per person. (A small number of scholarships are available through WCB&VI.)

5th Annual Euchre Tournament

YOU ARE INVITED TO PLAY CARDS!!
The Wisconsin Council of the Blind & Visually Impaired Presents the 5th Annual Euchre Tournament.
Culver's Restaurant 571 E. Richardson Springs Road, Edgerton, WI
$10 registration fee includes lunch.
10:00am Registration Opens
10:30am Tournament starts
12:00pm to 1:00pm Lunch break
Cash prizes will be offered. We will take the first 76 players to sign up (19 tables).
The Council's Sharper Vision Store will be on hand to showcase recreational items. Playing cards will be featured. Large print and Braille playing cards will be provided. All proceeds benefit the Wisconsin Council of the Blind & Visually Impaired programs and services.
Please complete the registration form located at Euchre 5 by September 4th, 2009.
Second Annual White Cane Safety & Awareness Walk

1-3 p.m.
MATC)/Truax Campus 3550 Anderson Street, Madison
Take a positive step forward and join us as we walk to raise funds that will support the programs, services and advocacy of the Wisconsin Council of the Blind and Visually Impaired.
Walk the short or long route.
Learn about White Cane and pedestrian safety.
Receive information about roundabouts and the challenges they present for people with vision loss.
Try out vision simulator goggles to experience what vision loss feels like.
Enjoy refreshments and receive a free T-shirt.
Registration fee: $10. Children 12 and under are FREE. Make it a family event!
