Legislative Alert ! III
Pet Facilties Licensing, What you can do!
Part III. Read parts I and II first. |
Dane County is the hotbed of AR activity in the state. Undoubtedly, holding the committee meetings there is part of the plan to keep the committee stacked with AR extremists in order to have the best chance of pushing PFL through. When DNR was revising its regulations on captive wildlife a number of years ago, a similar committee was formed for public participation. The meeting location rotated around the state, and was seldom in Dane Co. This allowed a wider segment of the public to attend and have input. The meetings were also always scheduled for mid-day on a Saturday. This made it easier for working people to attend. The DNR personnel were always in attendance, but that is their job. Anyone interested in participating in this committee but who finds that making it to Dane Co. by 6 pm on a weeknight is impossible, needs to contact Yvonne Bellay and DEMAND that in the interest of fairness, the meeting locations need to be rotated around the state and be held on weekends, rather than week nights. State agency personnel regard themselves as royalty and deign to acknowledge the unwashed masses, and so prefer to ignore their emails, especially when they dont want to act on them. ALWAYS CC your state legislators on any communications to Ms. Bellay. This usually gets a response. If enough people do this, it is more likely to result in changes. Yvonne Bellays email address is :
yvonne.bellay@datcp.state.wi.us . It is also recommended that you CC another DATCP top management personnel on your messages.
State Veterinarian Robert Ehlenfeldt is a good choice. He is effectively the CEO of the department. His email is: Robert.Ehlenfeldt@datcp.state.wi.us
Your subject line should be something that cant be confused with spam. Committee to revise WI animal laws is recommended.
All messages cc'd to legislators should identify the writer by full name and address. If you are uncomfortable putting that information in a message to a DATCP official, then use a nickname and immediately followup with a message to your legislators (only) explaining that you were the author of the previous message and were afraid to put personal contact info in the message where DATCP could see it and use it for retaliatory purposes.
