The senior pastor of the Fox Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, Rev. Roger Bertschausen, has begun working with Wisconsin RCRC's Cathy Thompson to set things in motion for one or two Spiritual Youth for Reproductive Freedom (SYRF)events on nearby campuses. FVUUF has recently fostered student faith groups on both the Lawrence University and UW-Oshkosh campuses. Roger will present the student group leaders with the proposal early in the fall and with their approval the events will be scheduled.
Wisconsin RCRC received a grant from the SYRF department of the national Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice to underwrite the events.
The event programs will likely feature Wisconsin RCRC Board member and former SYRF Organizer, Johanna Hatch and Wisconsin RCRC Organizer, Cathy Thompson. Lots of SYRF and RCRC resources and refreshments will also be featured at the gatherings.
SYRF empowers, trains, and mobilizes undergraduate and graduate students, young professionals, and other young activists to advance the spiritual pro-choice movement. SYRF works alongside secular and religious organizations to bring a faithful message to pro-choice organizing and social justice campaigns.
