Volunteer

Advocacy Assistant
Wisconsin Wetlands Association strives to serve as the "eyes and ears" of Wisconsin's wetland enthusiasts at the state capitol regarding important policy, judicial, legislative or legal activities that would have a lasting negative affect on wetlands in the state. But personal testimony from citizens can be much more powerful than direct lobbying by our staff on many issues. We rely on volunteer advocates from all parts of the state to voice their opinions by contacting legislators and other elected officials and by attending and presenting testimony at wetland-related public hearings. Can you be a Wetlands Advocate? Contact us at policy@wisconsinwetlands.org or 608-250-9971.

Outreach Booth Volunteers
An important part of the mission of the Wisconsin Wetlands Association is public education about the value of wetlands for our communities. We have produced an attractive, portable display that explains the work Wisconsin Wetlands Association does to protect and advocate on behalf of wetlands. We use this display at events like Canoecopia, garden shows, community fairs, and other events. We are looking for people to help staff our booth at events, which would involve offering Wisconsin Wetlands Association literature to visitors and signing interested people up to receive our newsletter. No formal training is required - just enthusiasm for wetlands and Wisconsin Wetlands Association's mission. Our staff and volunteers will assist new volunteers so that they are familiar with the materials. Families are welcome! Contact WWA at 608-250-9971.

Programs Promoter
Help Wisconsin Wetlands Association publicize programs in your area! We need volunteers from around the state who can help us disseminate information on upcoming Wisconsin Wetlands Association events in their communities. Help us promote our programs by identifying listservs, newsletters, and other publicity venues through which our programs can be publicized, and help us spread the word. This is a great opportunity for someone who is connected with local groups and networks. Contact us at programs@wisconsinwetlands.org or 608-250-9971.

Wetland Science Conference Volunteer
Wisconsin Wetlands Association hosts an annual wetland science conference to help share research and information about wetland issues including restoration, policy, and mitigation. More than 300 people attend our conference, and we need your help to make sure everything runs smoothly. Staff the registration table, assist with A/V equipment, help run field trips, help set up and manage our silent auction, and more. Student volunteers will receive registration scholarships for the conference. To volunteer, contact us at programs@wisconsinwetlands.org or 608-250-9971.
