Miss Annie Mae's Hats: Church Hats from the Black Community A Celebration with Photos and Stories

Auction Saturday, June 17, 1PM Lussier Family Heritage Center

This gallery reception/Academy Afternoon presentation will feature a gospel choir performing selections from Crowns, a musical by Regina Taylor. Annie Mae's Hats will show Annie Mae McClain's personal collection of hats, commissioned or purchased over her lifetime to wear to services at the Tabernacle Church in Milwaukee. Through accompanying photographs and text, this exhibition will examine the tradition of wearing elegant, fancy hats to church by members of the Black community in Milwaukee.

The Auction is sponsored by Women in Focus, with proceeds going to a scholarship fund for students of color.
