Wisconsin PBS Kids Open House

Children and their caregivers are invited to attend the 11th-annual Wisconsin PBS Kids Open House. This year's theme, "Wisconsin PBS Kids Take It Outside!, celebrates Wisconsin's great outdoors with a variety of games and educational activities based on PBS programs broadcast on Wisconsin Public Television (WPT). The free open house, hosted by WPT and the educational Communications Board, will be held outdoors from 9–11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7 on the Vilas Hall fourth-floor terrace at 821 University, Ave. in Madison. The event will feature appearances by walk-around characters Sid the Science Kid, and Curious George and the Man in the Yellow Hat. Quilt Expo

Quilt Expo features a juried and judged 10-category quilt contest, a Kids' Quilt Challenge, a vendor mall, stage presentations, informal lectures, Sit & Sew workshops, nationally known celebrity presenters, appearances by Nancy Zieman of public television's "Sewing With Nancy®," prize drawings and special evening events. Quilt Expo is held in the Exhibition Hall at the Alliant Energy Center, 1919 Alliant Energy Way, Madison. Tickets are $6 in advance/$7 at the door.
