"People wanted state-of-the-art technology, but they didn't want to drive to Madison," said Courtney Powell, software engineer.
In 2004, he and wife Naomi founded Powell's Computing in their basement in rural Belleville, WI (pop. 1,908). In 2006, they moved to a Main Street storefront. A 2007 WWBIC loan and business assistance helped develop an Internet cafe.
Now, Powell's offers Sprint cell phones, Sirius Satellite radio and DirecTV; repair of all computer brands, including Dell, HP and Apple; in-home service, upgrades and networking. Customers can also stop by the shop, grab a cup of Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee and surf the net.
