Norma E. Audiss, age 87, formerly of the Township of Moundville, died on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at Divine Savior Healthcare Hospital. Norma was born on April 24, 1921 in Fort Winnebago Township, the daughter of Harold and Lela (Peckham) Clark. She was married to Eldon W. Audiss on Jan.1, 1944. She was a member of Moundville United Methodist Church. Norma loved nature, and dedicated her life to her family. She is survived by her husband, Eldon, Portage; three children, Nancy (Richard) Meyer of Stoughton, Jeffrey Audiss of Endeavor, and Sally (George) Frye of Buchanan, Mich.; seven grandchildren, Andrea (Michael) Thomas of Stoughton, Derek Meyer of Madison, Joshua Audiss of Madison, Brian Terry of Buchanan, Mich., Clay Frye of Buchanan, Mich., Steven Terry of Buchanan, Mich. and Rebekah (Richard) Martin of Ft. Polk, La.; great-grandson, Zachary Thomas of Stoughton; her sister, Beverly (Orville) Karow of Columbus; her brother-in-law, Sheldon Dewsnap of Township of Moundville; her sister-in-law, Lola Richardson of State of Washington; and other near relatives and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Carol Dewsnap; a grandson, Todd Audiss; and a great-granddaughter, Emma Thomas. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008 at Moundville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Barbara Bolz officiating. Burial will follow in Moundville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 2: p.m. on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Moundville United Methodist Church Music Fund. Cullen, Nancy Marie

Nancy Marie Cullen, age 52, passed away unexpectedly. Nancy was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, artist, camper, hiker, kayak and horseback riding enthusiast. She insisted upon using her accounting degree to work solely with non-profit organizations. Nancy is survived by her mother, Phyllis Cullen; son, Russell Cullen Troka; grandsons, Riley Troka and Taylor Sylvers; sister, Susan Cullen Lanes (Lee); brothers, Martin Cullen (Denise) and William Cullen (Katie); and much loved nieces, Shea, Eileen, Erin, and Claire. A memorial service for Nancy will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008, at 1 p.m. with a visitation beginning at noon.

Devenish, Robert W.
SUN PRAIRIE
Robert W. Devenish, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at St. Mary's Hospital with his beloved family at his side. He was born on July 19, 1921, in Longmont, Colo., the son of George and Emma (Pulsifer) Devenish. During the Depression, his family moved to the New Berry Springs located in the Mojave Desert where they homesteaded. While attending Pasadena City College, World War II broke out and Bob enlisted in the Army Air Corps. He served as a B-17 pilot and flew missions over Europe. Upon returning to the United States, he married his fiancee, Alpha Piatt on June 1, 1945, in Balboa Island, Calif. He continued his active duty service with the now United States Air Force for 23 years which culminated with him serving at Truax Field, Madison which brought Bob and his family to the area. After retiring, he began his second career at the University of Wisconsin where he earned his bachelor's and master's degree. He was then hired by the UW as their director of communications which he held for 18 years, retiring in 1985. During that time, he founded and was an active member of A.C.U.T.A. (Assn. of College and University Telecommunication Administrators). As a resident of the Sun Prairie area, he was very active with various organizations. He helped found the Colonial Club, the Sun Prairie Taxi Service, Sun Prairie Education Foundation and the Sun Prairie Rotary Club where he served through the various chairs, and then the Rotary District No. 6250 where it culminated with him serving as district governor. Bob was an active member of the Sun Prairie Athletic Club, for more than 20 years and especially the water aerobics class, where he was one of two males in the class. He leaves behind his wife, Alpha of Sun Prairie; his sons, Ted (Cynthia) Devenish of DeForest, and Michael (Sharon) Devenish of Monona; his daughter, Ann (Douglas) Devenish-Cassell of North Falmouth, Mass.; a granddaughter, Jessica (Todd) Tadych of Fitchburg; a grandson, Ryan Devenish of San Francisco; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John; and sister, Frances. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at 2 p.m. at GOOD SHEPHERD EPISCOPAL CHURCH, 3416 Swansee Ridge (corner of Highway 19 and Cty Tk C), Sun Prairie with Father Michael Tess officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be directed to Sun Prairie Education Foundation, Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, the Local Rotary Foundation Chapter or the Colonial Club.

Dutter, Kyle Thomas
BELOIT
Kyle Thomas Dutter, age 12, of Beloit, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008, at the U.W. Hospital, Madison. He was born on June 5, 1996, at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, the son of Laura L. (Bach) and Ryan T. Dutter. Kyle was a former student at McLenegan Elementary School in Beloit and was currently attending Glacier Creek Middle School in Cross Plains. He liked to play Halloween year-round by pretend trick-or-treating, and wearing costumes and masks. He also enjoyed kicking and throwing balls, bowling, going for walks, Sponge Bob, and swimming, as well as many other activities. Kyle was a happy little boy that could light up a room with his smile. Kyle smiled, said hi to everyone and always asked them "how you doing". Survivors include his mother, Laura Dutter of Beloit; his sister, Kimberly Dutter, a student at Utah State University; and other family and friends. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, at ST. JUDE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 747 Hackett St., Beloit, with Father Steven Kortendick officiating. Harriet Freye, age 96, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, at St. Mary's Care Center in Madison. She was born on March 18, 1912, in Indiana, the daughter of D.A. and Josephine (Camden) Tague. Harriet worked as an administrative assistant for the Department of Public Instruction for more than 30 years. She is survived by her daughters, Patsy (Kenneth) Carlson of Baraboo and Phyllis Francis of Madison; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Frank Snyder and Oscar Freye; a brother, Harlan Tague; and four sisters, Olive Tague, Peggy Tilton, Ruth Churchill and Irene Vaughn. Our loving and gentle mother, grandma, great-grandma, and friend Frances M. Johnson, age 96 of Argyle passed away peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at Lafayette Manor in Darlington. Judy A. Levake, age 64, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008. She was born on Feb. 15, 1944, in Melvina, the daughter of Lawrence and Marie (Anthony) Hauser. Judy married Kenneth "Zeke" Levake on June 8, 1968. She loved spending time at her home and with her family. Judy enjoyed baking and working in her garden. She was a caregiver for many, always caring for others before herself. Judy is survived by her husband, Ken "Zeke"; two children, Kim (Richard) Cooks of Des Moines, Iowa and K. J. (Kylie) Levake of Racine; a granddaughter, Rebecca Cooks; two sisters, Janet Rademacher of West Salem, and Bonnie (Al) Mlsna of Sparta; three sisters-in-law, Marylee (James
) Brimmer of Madison, Sharon (Ronald) Schade of Madison, and Char (Cliff) Romfoe of Holcombe; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ron; and brother-in-law, Charles Rademacher. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at HOLY MOTHER OF CONSOLATION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 651 N. Miskulin, Joseph J.

Joseph J. Miskulin, age 86 of Lodi, died early Thursday morning, Nov. 20, 2008. In his life he was a biker, a soldier, a craftsman, an outdoorsman and a leader. To the very last moment, he lived his life with strength and dignity, inspiring those who knew him through his actions and convictions. For those who knew him, no words are required to honor his memory. For those who did not, no word could define the expanse of his soul. He died quietly in his home, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his two daughters, Therese Miskulin-Brethorst (Dan) and Annette Fassbender (Rick); his three sons, Joey (Patti), Bob (Melissa) and Marty; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Blaz and Mathilda; and six siblings, Louie, Mike, Katie, Mary, John and Nick. Private services were held.

Olson, Agnes J. "Augie"
RICHLAND CENTER
Agnes J. (Hed) Olson, affectionately known as "Augie", died Nov. 18, 2008 at the Schmitt Woodland Hills Retirement Center in Richland Center. Augie was born on April 19, 1916 in St. Hilaire, Minn. to Alvin and Josephine (Gigstad) Hed. At age 10 she move with her family to Crandon. She graduated from Crandon High School in 1932 and from Stout Institute, Menomonie, in 1938. She taught home economics at Neillsville High School from 1938 to 1941. On June 15, 1941, she married Kenneth A. Olson in Crandon. They lived in Neillsville, St. Paul and on an army base in Texas before Kenneth shipped overseas during World War II. During the war Augie taught home economics at Loyal High School. She then stayed home to raise her children except for a brief teaching position in the early 1950s at Neillsville High School. In 1965 Augie became the dietitian/ dietary supervisor at Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home in Neillsville. She retired in 1978. She and Kenneth moved to Schmitt Woodland Hills Retirement Center in Richland Center in 1995. Augie was a charter member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Neillsville. She spent many happy hours volunteering her time in a variety of church activities. She helped direct the lunches for the American Red Cross Blood Mobile for many years. She was a member of Phi Upsilon Omicron and the Sons of Norway, Black River Falls chapter. She was an associate member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Richland Center. She is survived by her son, Larry Olson of Stoughton; three daughters, Augie-Jo (Bill) Records of Great Falls, Mont., Mary Lou (Bruce) Tessmer of Richland Center and Ellen (Steve) Lundstrom of Nashwauk, Minn.; five grandchildren, Chris (Heidi), Eric and Melanie Tessmer, Jessie (John) Gearns and Rachel Lundstrum; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Gordon (Winifred) Hed of Minneapolis, Minn; and a brother-in-law, Paul (Colleen) Sweenby of New Richmond. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives. Augie was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Kenneth; her parents; her sisters, Marion Swenby and Louise (Fred) Becker; and her brother, Edwin Kermit (Bertha) Hed. Augie was devoted to her family. She was one of the unsung heroes who quietly helped and encouraged people in need. She made life better for everyone she knew with her kindness, thoughtfulness and generosity of spirit. Services will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, at CALVARY LUTHERAN CHURCH in Neillsville. Pastor James Gordon will officiate. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Memorials may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church in Neillsville, Schmitt Woodland Hills in Richland Center or the Alzheimer's Association. James Charles Orr, age 63, unexpectedly passed away from natural causes on Nov. 14, 2008. He was born on July 1, 1945, in Rhinelander, son of the James M. Orr and Jean Gertrude Giese. James was one of four siblings. He graduated high school and served in the U.S. Army. Jim was a good-natured, friendly person with a great sense of humor who showed concern for others. He always had a smile on his face and always managed to make those around him smile as well. He will dearly be missed.

Maynard E. Schumacher, age 80, of Janesville, died on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2008, at Rock Haven. He was born in Richland Center on May 13, 1928, the son of George and Ella (Snorak) Schumacher. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict as a medic, and had been a Janesville resident most of his life. Maynard married Shirley J. Schumacher on Jan. 28, 1956, and she preceded him in death on Sept. 16, 2007. He had been employed by General Motors, retiring in 1987. Maynard was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 1621 where he had served as post commander from 1985 to 1986. He was an avid sports fan, and in addition to his love for the Brewers and the Packers, he was a loyal supporter of his grandchildren's accomplishments. He was also proud of his service to his country and flew the flag every day. He is survived by his four children, Brad (Cheryl) Schumacher of Milton, Denise (Dan) Cuff of Brodhead, Randy (Lynn) O'Rourke of Janesville and Debbie (Wayne) Turner of DeKalb, Ill.; nine grandchildren, Kayla and Courtney Schumacher, Tyler and Kaitlyn O'Rourke, Kyle and Lindsay (Tyler Welch) Peterson, Stephen (Jennifer) Turner, Dan (Rachel) Turner, and Greg (Angie) Sadler; three great-grandchildren; and three siblings, George (Mary Jo) Schumacher and Walter (Norma) Schumacher both of LaCrosse and Ronnie Schumacher of Richland Center; a special brother-in-law, Bill (Meredith) Morgan of Cazenovia; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Warren; and sister, Mamie. Talbot, George A. III
MADISON
George A Talbot III, Madison, born April 2, 1929, died peacefully Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008. Recipient of a B.A. and Master;s from the University of Chicago, he later taught anthropology, sociology and architecture at Washington University, St. Louis, Rutgers, University of Illinois - Urbana (there he also designed sets for musical and theater productions) and the University of Wisconsin Law School. From 1965-72 he was the prize-winning photo-editor of TransAction magazine and then directed the visual and sound archives at the Wisconsin Historical Society, 1973 to retirement, 1990. He significantly expanded the society's collection and created two major exhibitions, "At Home," using photos to show how Americans led their lives, and "Six Generations Here," portraying a German-American Wisconsin farm family. After retirement, he was on the Board of Friends of the Wisconsin Historical Society and directed the Frank Lloyd Wright oral history project (1990-95). With long-time colleague Jack Holzhueter, George wrote "McVicar and Madison: Reading Pictures and Experiencing the Past," the introduction to Zane Williams' Double Take (2002). He is survived by his brother, Earl A Talbot (Lydia Talbot) of Chicago; nephew and niece, Earl Talbot Jr (Tamarra Love) and Elizabeth Caya (Robert Caya); and grandniece and grandnephews, Catherine, Robert and Jaiden. He will be greatly missed by his caregiver and special friend Richard Student, and other dear friends, including Emily Barr, Ron Lofman, Gary Davis, Jamie Woods, Michael Sweet, Leonard Zwilling, Jack Holzhueter, Henry and Susan Eichhorn, Bill Shafer, and many others. His family thanks George's physician, Mark Davis, nurses Rhonda and Kris, Mary and Jenny of the Hospice home team, and the staff at the Hospice unit for their compassionate care. Taugher, Norman J.

Norman J. Taugher, age 96, died on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008. He was born on Nov. 6, 1912, in Milwaukee. Norman married the former Jane P. Urbanek of Manitowoc on April 18, 1938. He graduated from Marquette University Law School (J.D.) in 1936. Norman was employed by the State of Wisconsin for 41 years until his retirement in 1978. He began as unemployment examiner. In 1945, he became an administration law judge for the Workers Compensation Division for 19 years, later becoming division administrator. He and Jane enjoyed traveling extensively in Europe, Asia and Africa. Norman is survived by his wife, Jane; a daughter, Judy (Allen) Hable; a son, Richard (Marcia) Taugher; four grandchildren, Diane (Darrel) Roberts, Jeff Hable, Ryan Taugher, and Rebecca Taugher; two great-grandchildren, Jared and Samantha Roberts; and a brother, Dr. Don (Ann) Taugher of Monterey, Calif. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at the TREE OF LIFE CHAPEL AT OAKWOOD VILLAGE EAST, 5565 Tancho Drive, Madison, with Monsignor Terrence L. Connors officiating. Iris Stokes Wade, age 93, died peacefully in the presence of family members on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at the Oakwood Village Retirement Community in Madison. She was retired for some years after serving as the librarian at Crestwood Elementary School in Madison. Iris was the wife of the late Earl K. Wade, Professor Emeritus, University of Wisconsin - Madison. Iris was born on Nov. 10, 1915, in Fountain Inn, S.C. She graduated from Winthrop College in Rock Hill, SC.. with a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1936 and also attended the University of Wisconsin where she took additional graduate coursework to obtain a certification in library science. Iris taught French, English and Latin for more than ten years in several communities in South Carolina. While teaching in Columbia, S.C., she met her future husband Earl Wade, who was stationed with the Army Air Corps at nearby Shaw Field. They were married in 1947 and moved to Antigo where their first son Randy was born. They then moved to the Madison area where Earl pursued graduate studies at the University of Wisconsin Department of Plant Pathology. In ensuing years, while Earl pursued his new position at the University of Wisconsin, Iris was fully occupied raising her young family of three boys that now included Byron and Kenneth. Once the three children had completed elementary school, Iris resumed her teaching career at Crestwood Elementary School, where she served as school librarian for more than 15 years. The value that Iris placed on education was an important thread throughout her life and in the upbringing of her three children. Iris was an avid reader and instilled that love of reading in her children and the children she worked with at Crestwood School. She participated in several book clubs, both when teaching and after her retirement. Her children and grandchildren have treasured the guidance she provided and the example she set. They have all earned advanced college degrees and have pursued challenging professions and accomplishments. Iris is survived by her sister, Marian Stokes Mohney of Asheville, N.C.; her three sons, Randall (Marilyn) of Madison, Byron (Theresa) of Niceville, Fla. and Kenneth (Patty) of Blue Mounds; and three grandchildren, Jennifer of New York, N.Y., Melissa (Kevin) Wade Alford of Dover, Del. and Byron Craig of Pittsburgh, Pa. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Millard Stokes; her mother, Etolia Duckett Stokes; her brother, Joseph Duckett Stokes and her sister, Doris (Stokes) Rickenbacker. Iris was active for many years in the First United Methodist Church in Madison. Iris's life long commitment to her family and her husband Earl was celebrated at their 50th wedding anniversary in 1997. She was an avid gardener, and took great pride in the flower gardens around her home in Madison and her vegetable plot. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008, at the CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road in Madison. The Rev. Gwen Brandfass, Oakwood Village Chaplin, will officiate. Burial will be held at the Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Oakwood Village Foundation.

Walmer Kratochvil, Brennan Lyle
OREGON
Brennan Lyle Walmer Kratochvil, infant son of Taylor Walmer and Tyler Kratochvil, was born and passed away on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008, at St. Mary's Hospital. Along with his parents, he is survived by his grandparents, Vicki and Todd Walmer, and Diane and Randi Kratochvil; great-grandparents, Norman Walmer, Bev Mosel, and Jim Mosel; great-great-grandmothers, Charlene Walmer and Caryl Mosel; an uncle, Curt Kratochvil; and aunts, Torrie Carlson, Tiffani Walmer, and Tanna Walmer. Memorial services will be held at FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 172 N. Main St., Oregon, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, with the Rev. Clara Thompson presiding. Visitation will be at the church from noon until the time of the service. Private burial will be at Prairie Mound Cemetery.

Yelk, Lyla M.
MADISON
Lyla M. Yelk, age 82, died Nov. 18, 2008. She was born in Columbus and graduated from Marshall High School in 1944. Her children were Wayne, Kerry, Shirley, Georgia and Dick. Lyla is remembered for her kindness and compassion, her strong will and love of family.
