The Sea & Cake @ The High Noon this Saturday.

September's been a great month for live music in Madison. Between WSUM's Snake on the Lake and The Flaming Lips last weekend, Wilco at the Overture, and a string of great club shows, concert-goers have had a lot to cheer for.

Saturday's Sea & Cake show continues this streak. The long running Chicago group will bring its jazzy-blend of ornate electric guitar lines, pulsing rhythms and lighter-than-air vocals to the cozy confines of the High Noon. Everybody, the group's newest record, was released in May to warm reviews from critics and fans alike. I think its the strongest release in the band's post-millennium catalog. The Sea & Cake's cross-genre appeal should pack the house.

Be sure to get to the High Noon early to check out the openers The Zincs. The band's excellent new record Black Pompadour has been high in my listening high rotation. The Zincs bare some resemblance to The National, but with some serious Brit-pop flare.
