Weekends Begin on Thursday

Alright party people, now that our university has once again been designated the nation's top party school, you need to know the golden rule: weekends start on Thursday. That's why tonight is a perfect time to join Progressive Dane and the Edgewood College Human Issues Program to help solve our health care crisis. OK, so it's no Halloween riot but it is important. Starting tonight at 6:30 at the Anderson Auditorium in the Predolin Humanities Center on the Edgewood College campus, four different community leaders will present four different solutions for health care costs and coverage in Wisconsin. The Pro-Show's weekly Wednesday guest, Darcy Haber from Citizen Action Wisconsin, will be moderating. After the presentations, all in attendance will be invited to participate in discussion and debate. The event is free and open to the public and promises to be one hell of a party.
Friday night at the UW Memorial Union brings the band Locksley back to Madison. If you love the Beatles before Sgt. Pepper's, you can't miss Locksley. The band hails from Madison, but has been busy making a name for themselves in New York City. There's no cover charge, tall beers, and exceptional music.
Saturday starts with another celebration at the High Noon Saloon. Starting at 1pm, the Prairie Fire Bio-Fuels Coop will be holding their first open meeting, along with a car show featuring cars running on vegetable oil. The conversion of a diesel engine to a vegetable oil engine is easy, affordable, and available through Prairie Fire. If that's not enough for you party people, Saturday night's highlight is the appearance of a Buddhist monk who reached nirvana after 20 years of meditation, only to then reach for a cigarette and a cocktail. Why? Saturday night at the Barrymore, Alan Clements explains his strange transformations with "Spiritually Incorrect". Evidently, nirvana is not all it's cracked up to be. Alan will also be our Friday feature guest on the Pro-Show. If you just can't quit partying until the sun comes up on Monday morning, then the place to be on Sunday night is back at the Barrymore for the New Orleans jam band, Galactic. If you haven't heard them before, you'll have to hear it for yourself. If you're a music lover (and a party person) you won't want to miss it.
Along with Alan Clements, Friday's Pro-Show will also include environmentalist Patricia Randolph who is recruiting fellow environmentalists and animal activists to unite for the DNR's annual Conservation Congress hearing Monday night. I guess that means our party won't stop until at least Tuesday?
