Welcome to the insanity of Opening Day.
Baseball is back but sadly with Miller Park just 90 minutes north ready, willing and able to be the perfect setting for Opening Day, instead the Milwaukee Brewers are beginning the 2008 season with the rival Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field under dubious conditions at best "“ cold, misty, foggy and otherwise miserable.
No batting practice on the field today, so it's off to the cages under the stadium for any pregame swings.
Just finished the pregame media session with Ned Yost and the Brewers' skipper refuses to believe the game will not be played.
"It looks like we've got a window from 11:30 to about 4, 5 p.m.," Yost said. "We'll play."
He better hope so.
No one would like to see the clubs' aces Ben Sheets and Carlos Zambrano throw three or four innings and have their efforts wiped out and the clubs forced to juggle their pitching staffs and start over.
But we'll see.
