University of Wisconsin right guard Kraig Urbik is one of 70 players on the 2008 Outland Trophy watch list, the Football Writers Association of America announced Friday.
The award is given to the top lineman in the nation. UW left tackle Joe Thomas won the award in 2006; LSU defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey won it last season.
Urbik, who has started all 39 games of his career, was a consensus second-team All-Big Ten pick as a junior in 2007.
Other Big Ten players on the watch list: offensive tackle Alex Boone and center Steve Rehring of Ohio State; offensive tackle Gerald Cadogan and center A.Q. Shipley of Penn State; offensive tackle Xavier Fulton and center Ryan McDonald of Illinois; Northwestern defensive tackle John Gill; Iowa defensive tackles Mitch King and Matt Kroul; Purdue offensive tackle Sean Sester; and Michigan defensive tackle Terrance Taylor.
