UW football: Bielema tight-lipped on Sherer

Jim Polzin  —

Asked for comment on an apparent right knee injury to quarterback Dustin Sherer, University of Wisconsin football coach Bret Bielema didn't have much to say.

Sherer, a fourth-year junior who's competing for the starting quarterback spot with senior Allan Evridge (and perhaps sophomore Scott Tolzien), was spotted on State Street earlier this week on crutches.

Through a spokesman, Bielema said he expects to have a full compliment of players available when preseason training camp begins in early August.

Sherer had a decent spring but still appeared to be behind Evridge in the competition to replace Tyler Donovan as UW's quarterback.
