UW men's hockey alumni: Gilbert named to U.S. national team
Todd D. Milewski —Former Wisconsin defenseman Tom Gilbert is one of the first 17 players named to the United States team for the World Championship next month in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Quebec City.
Gilbert will be making his World Championship debut in the tournament, which runs May 2-18.
He tied for seventh among NHL defensemen this season with 13 goals for the Edmonton Oilers. He added 20 assists for 33 points.
