I saw enough out of the Wisconsin Badgers men's hockey team last weekend to include them in my ballot for the USCHO.com/CBS College Sports poll. It wasn't enough to get the Badgers back in the top 20, however.
Alaska and Massachusetts-Lowell moved into
the poll this week ahead of the Badgers. This week, unranked UW
hosts No. 15 Alaska Anchorage. That's an interesting twist on
things.
By the way, here's something to chew on, taking off an earlier
post: Last weekend, the Badgers neither allowed five or more
goals in a game nor allowed a shorthanded goal nor committed a
too-many-men-on-the-ice penalty. The only two weekends this season
in which that has happened were against Michigan Tech and in the
College Hockey Showcase.
The connection? Those are also the only two weekends where the Badgers swept the series.
Here's how I voted in the USCHO poll:
1. Miami
2. Notre Dame
3. Minnesota
4. Boston University
5. Boston College
6. Northeastern
7. Colorado College
8. Denver
9. Minnesota State
10. Air Force
11. Princeton
12. Vermont
13. Cornell
14. Michigan
15. Alaska
16. Alaska-Anchorage
17. Nebraska-Omaha
18. Ohio State
19. Wisconsin
20. New Hampshire
