Mickies Dairy Bar might want to get
the table ready, because Madison favorite (and regular Mickies
customer) Lyle Lovett is coming back to Overture Hall on Sunday,
July 13 at 7:30 p.m. It's the first appearance in town for Lovett
since his "It's Not Big, It's Large" CD came out, although he
debuted some of the songs off that album, such as "All Downhill,"
when he last played here in the summer of 2006.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 26 and range from $45 to $55 through the Overture Hall box office at 258-4141 and www.overturecenter.com. Lovett will be playing with a full band, but the show's promoter, Tag Evers, says it won't be the vaunted 17-piece Large Band that was here last time.
It's the third appearance at Overture Hall for Lovett, who aside from the 2006 show was here with John Hiatt, Joe Ely and Guy Clark as part of the "Storytellers" tour. He seems to like the place, telling the crowd, "This is the kind of place you would want to bring a date to. And not just any date. You'd bring someone who you knew you liked already."
