With FSN Wisconsin planning to broadcast 65 Milwaukee Brewers games in high definition this year, Charter Communications said it now is aiming to add FSN Wisconsin in HD "this summer."
Late last year, Charter announced plans to roughly double its HD lineup to about 40 channels over the next year or two, with the timing varying by market. At the time, Charter regional spokesman John Miller said FSN WI wasn't likely to be a quick HD addition because "over 95 percent of their programming content is not in HD," but he added that Charter's position could change if FSN Wisconsin added more HD content.
FSN Wisconsin last week announced that 65 of its 135 Brewers broadcasts this season will be in HD, nearly a four-fold increase over its 17 Brewers HD broadcasts last year.
On Monday, Miller said in an e-mail that Charter wants to carry FSN Wisconsin's HD broadcasts of the Brewers.
"FSN WI does not operate an HD channel full-time like most other channels in HD, so we would have to dedicate an HD channel just for those 65 games with the remainder of the time black," Miller said. "However, we feel there will be significant interest in the Brewers this season, coupled with more HD TVs in the marketplace, so they are on the 'to be launched this summer' list."
An exact date has not been set, Miller added.
Meanwhile, FSN Wisconsin said Monday that the correct link for up-to-date high-definition broadcast schedules and channel listings for its Brewers coverage this season is www.myspace.com/fsnwi. An incorrect URL was provided in FSN Wisconsin's press release last week.
