Home foreclosure filings in Wisconsin are far outpacing last year's rate, according to figures released today by ForeclosureAlarm.com.

"The housing crisis is far from over," said ForeclosureAlarm.com president Phil Crawford. "In every county of the state, the number of homes lost to foreclosure is climbing."

Dane County had one of the largest jumps in foreclosure filings in the state the first six months of 2008 compared to the first six months of 2007, going up 57 percent, with 394 filings in January-June 2007 compared to 619 filings in January-June 2008.

Milwaukee County's foreclosure filing rate went up 38 percent from 2,326 the first six months of '07 to 3,210 this year.

Overall, there were 12,523 foreclosure filings in Wisconsin from January through June this year, a 35 percent increase over the 9,254 filings in the state a year ago.
