Three people were injured, one of them seriously, Friday evening in a two-car head-on crash on Highway 14 in the town of Cross Plains.

Dane County Sheriff's Sgt. Tim Elve said a Chevrolet Cavalier was headed east on Highway 14 when it crossed the center line into the westbound lane.

An oncoming Saturn ION headed west attempted to take evasive action by going into the eastbound lane, but the driver of the Cavalier also corrected his actions and the two cars crashed head on in the eastbound lane, Elve said. The accident occurred just before 6 p.m.

The driver of the Saturn was seriously injured in the accident, while her passenger suffered minor injuries. The driver of the Cavalier also had minor injuries, Elve said.

Names of those injured in the wreck were not being released pending notification of relatives.

Along with Dane County Sheriff's Deputies the Mazomanie and Cross Plains Fire Departments were at the scene as were Mazomanie, Cross Plains and Middleton EMS units.
