Three students from University of
Wisconsin-Madison are in the running for the 2008 Miss Wisconsin
title that will be announced Saturday night at the Alberta Kimball
Civil Auditorium at Oshkosh West High School.
Christina Anna Thompson, the reigning title winner and 2007 Miss
Madison from Pleasant Prairie, will crown the winner out of 26
contestants vying for the chance to compete in the 2009 Miss
America pageant in January in Las Vegas.
Among the women vying for the crown:
* Shinae Lucille Kulhanek, 21, a
communications major at UW. Kulhanek, from Wisconsin Rapids, was
the second runner-up in last year's pageant and earned a talent
preliminary award on Friday.
* Elyse Ann Wojciechowski, 20, who is
studying communicative disorders at UW. Wojciechowski, from Oak
Creek, is competing in her first Miss Wisconsin pageant.
* Margertha Consona Louise McLean, 24, a graduate student in physiology at UW. The Reynoldsburg, Ohio native is hoping to become the first African American to win the Miss Wisconsin title.
