Dane County residents and businesses can now apply for federal financial aid from FEMA.

The county, along with Juneau and Ozaukee counties, was added Saturday to the list of 22 counties included in the disaster declaration.

"The FEMA declaration means some much-needed relief for the victims of the recent floods and storms," Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk said.

Individuals, including renters, and businesses affected can apply for disaster assistance through Aug. 13.

County emergency management officials have received reports of over $77 million in damages because of the floods and storms.

Officials remind county residents and businesses reporting damage information to local units of government is not the same as applying for federal assistance.

Applications for federal aid can be made by phone, 800-621-3362 or online at www.fema.gov/assistance.
