Suspect sought in attempted Dollar Tree robbery

Monona Police are searching for a young woman who tried to rob the Dollar Tree store at South Towne Mall Sunday.

The woman entered the store at about 12:35 p.m., displayed a handgun to a clerk and demanded money, police reported in a news release. The female clerk became upset and was not able to follow the directions of the robber, who fled the store without getting any money.

The suspect is described as black, late teens to early 20s, very thin and wearing a white shirt and a black do-rag. Security cameras at nearby businesses are being checked.
