Nonprofit organizations affected by this summer's floods can get up to $20,000 through a new program helping the groups recover.
The Rebuilding Our Communities grant program was unveiled Wednesday by the Alliant Energy Foundation, the charitable wing of Alliant Energy Corp.
Non-profits in Alliant Energy's utility service area can apply immediately for the unrestricted funds.
"Many non--profit organizations have been displaced from their locations and even more have had a greater demand placed on their services due to the devastating flooding," said foundation executive director Marthea Fox in a statement announcing the new grant program.
"It is critical people get the immediate assistance they need to recover from this disaster," Fox said. "We must help maintain the viability of non-profit groups serving the flood victims in order to do so."
Eligible organizations are those registered as 501(c)(3) non-profits.
Grants will be issued for $5,000, $10,000, $15,000 or $20,000, to help organizations pay for increased operating and other expenses incurred as a direct result of the floods.
Applications are available online at www.alliantenergy.com/foundation or by phone at 608-458-4483.
