Woman killed by truck in town of Sumpter
An 81-year-old North Freedom woman was killed Thursday afternoon when she walked onto U.S. 12 and into the side of a semi-trailer truck in Sauk County.
Gloria Trautz suffered severe head, arm and leg injuries stemming from the accident which happened at 3:13 p.m. in front of the Bluffview residential area across from the old Badger Army Ammunition Plant complex in the town of Sumpter.
Trautz was treated at the scene by Sauk Prairie Ambulance EMTs and then taken to UW Hospital by Med Flight, where she was pronounced dead from her injuries.
The southbound semi-truck was driven by Andrew Gilbertson, 24, Baraboo.
The incident remains under investigation by the Sauk County Sheriff's Office.
