Baked, boiled or fried wasn't just the preparation method for some of the food at the Taste of Madison.
It was the way many of the throngs at Taste of Madison likely felt on Sunday as they marched under a relentless sun around the Capitol Square, in search of the perfect pizza, the most satisfying sandwich or the deeply decadent dessert.
The Taste of Madison is the annual two-day event that celebrates all things edible, with small plate samples all under $4 served picnic style from many of the city's restaurants, caterers and food carts. It can be safely said that no one went away hungry.
Taste of Madison feels like a cross between Concerts on the Square -- plenty of folks set up lawn chairs or picnic blankets on the Capitol lawn to enjoy their plates of food -- and the Dane County Farmers' Market, where every little booth and tent seems to have something even more delectable to eat.
Throw in bands on stages playing a mix of music at every street approaching the Square, and you have a Madison tradition that's a feast for all the senses.
