Wireless provider Cricket Communications announced that it will begin providing service in Wisconsin later this year.
The company said in a news release that the expansion will bring about 200 jobs to Wisconsin, about 50 in Madison.
Cricket said it is looking to fill positions that include retail store managers and sales representatives. Applications can be done online by going to www.mycricket.com and searching "Wisconsin."
"We are very excited to launch our flat-rate, unlimited service in the Madison area," Marcus Boni, district director for Cricket in Madison, said in a statement. "We are looking to build our team with local Madison talent, and we are actively recruiting in the community to fill several key positions."
Cricket is a unit of San Diego-based Leap Wireless International, a spinoff of tech giant Qualcomm. Leap started in 1999, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2003, restructured and emerged from bankruptcy in 2004.
The company and its joint ventures now operate in 29 states and hold licenses in 35 of the top 50 U.S. markets. Cricket offers customers a choice of unlimited voice, text, data and mobile Web services.
