Molly McLean -- newsroom coordinator

Molly McLean has had the unenviable job of keeping order in The Capital Times' newsroom. She's been the one to make sure the staff gets paid, that they file their expense reports on time, that they get their messages and mail. Sometimes all that involves just putting her foot down.

A 10-year veteran of the newsroom, Molly grew up in Illinois, wound up through marriage in Des Moines, Iowa, and moved to Madison in 1992. She worked at the Madison Community Foundation and with several local law firms before becoming the assistant to the editor of The Capital Times in 1998.

She's handled the correspondence and phone calls for the newspaper's editors these past ten years, coordinated Voice of the People submissions, compiled records for publication in the paper and served as the receptionist for people visiting the newsroom.

Molly has also served as the paper's liaison with the board of The Capital Times' Kids Fund, coordinating meetings, helping with grant requests and coordinating the annual fund drive that raises the money needed to support young people's programs throughout Dane County.

She keeps in constant contact with her three grown children. The war in Iraq has been a major personal concern for her this past year, but her oldest son, Jesse, is now safely on his way home. He will join brother Matt and sister Jody in Des Moines, where Molly plans to move in the next few weeks.
