Lake Wingra spring cleaning set
You can spring into spring by helping clean Lake Wingra's springs Saturday at Edgewood College.
The Friends of Lake Wingra group is looking for volunteers to help clean the area around rediscovered groundwater springs -- the group's Windows on Wingra spring event for 2008.
The event begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Mazzuchelli Center on the west shore of Lake Wingra behind Edgewood College, with talks about the history and current state of Wingra's springs, efforts to recharge groundwater in the watershed and research efforts to monitor the recovery of the springs.
There's no fee, but participants are asked to register by calling 663-2838 or e-mailing to info@lakewingra.org.
