No one was injured in a house fire Friday at 4717 Ames Street in Madison that caused $50,000 in damage to the home.
According the the Madison Fire Department, at 6:42 p.m. Friday a neighbor was going for a run when he heard his next door neighbor's smoke detector sounding. He then ran to the home and found smoke coming out of some open windows and called 911.
Several fire engines were called to the scene and the fire was extinguished by 6:53 p.m.
Crews searched for any occupants, but found that no one was home. A black lab and two cats were found safe. The home received extensive fire and water damage to kitchen area, and some smoke damage throughout the home.
The fire is under investigation.
