A Janesville man was killed late Saturday night when he drove off Interstate 39 in Rock County and was ejected from his vehicle, the Wisconsin State Patrol reported.

The 41-year-old man, whose name was being withheld pending notification of relatives, was driving his Chevrolet Trailblazer south on I-39 at mile marker 186 shortly before 11 p.m. when he drove off the road to the right for an unknown reason, the State Patrol said in a news release.

The vehicle rolled numerous times before coming to rest at the bottom of the shoulder. The driver, who was the lone occupant, was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Speed and not using seatbelts are contributing factors. Whether alcohol was involved was unknown.

The crash remains under investigation.
