The annual Dane County Fire Chiefs Association big Fire Truck Parade will be held Sunday in downtown Madison. Each year the parade marks the beginning of Fire Prevention Week in Dane County and nearly 40 fire trucks from departments throughout Dane County are expected to participate in this year's event.

The parade is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. with the trucks starting their journey at the intersection of State and Lake streets near the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus.

The line of gleaming firefighting apparatus will proceed up State Street to the Capitol Square, where the units will be on display until 3 p.m.

Also planned in Madison for Fire Prevention Week is an open house at all Fire Stations on Oct. 11, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. More information on the open houses will be forthcoming soon.
