An apartment hit by a half-dozen bullets two nights ago was burglarized early Tuesday morning, with the alleged burglar arrested a short time later thanks to the description provided by a neighbor who called police.
While police wouldn't link Morris Brown Jr., 23, Madison, to the shooting incident July 6, Brown was in possession of a .22-caliber semi-automatic pistol at the time of his arrest, and a .22 caliber shell casing was recovered from the July 6 crime scene, according to police.
Brown was tentatively charged with burglary, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of marijuana, criminal damage to property and a probation hold.
Madison police were dispatched at about 1:20 a.m. Tuesday to the apartment in the 1500 block of Troy Drive, the same residence where multiple bullet holes were discovered in a sliding glass patio door early Sunday morning. The resident of the targeted apartment wasn't home, but a neighbor heard breaking glass and called 911 to report a burglary in progress.
Police said the neighbor saw a man carrying a bag leave the apartment, giving a description of the suspect's car to police, leading them to an apartment in the 3700 block of East Karstens Drive, where Brown was arrested.
