The Fiore Company is sponsoring a Bike to Work kickoff event Friday from 8 to 10 a.m. at the company's Network222 office building at 222 W. Washington Ave. to encourage people to commute to work by bicycle.
Events planned include a free breakfast, bike tune-ups courtesy of the Williamson Bicycleworks and Fitness, drawings for prizes and coaching on the options in communting by bike from the Bike Federation and Rideshare.
The Fiore Company says approximately 450 people employed by 30 businesses in the company's office building just off the Capitol Square in downtown Madison commute by bicycle daily.
The company hopes other businesse will provide their employees with similar information and incentive programs to allow their employees to reap similar financial rewards by bicycling to work in days of high gas prices, reduce congestion, and keep the air cleaner.
