A former top investigator at the state Department of Justice has filed a complaint alleging she was demoted because she questioned using state agents to protect Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen at the Republican National Convention.
Joell Schigur led the Justice Department's public integrity bureau until May, when she was demoted to a special agent position.
Schigur has filed a complaint with the state Department of Workforce Development's Equal Rights Division. She alleges her boss, Mike Myszewski, retaliated against her for saying she thought it might be improper to use state resources to protect Van Hollen during political activity.
Schigur argues state law protects her from such a demotion.
Justice Department spokesman Bill Cosh didn't immediately return a message.
