Former local television anchorwoman Beth Zurbuchen has been named the president and chief executive officer of the Swiss Center of North America in New Glarus.
Zurbuchen is of Swiss heritage and says joining the center is more than a mission.
"I am excited about advancing the goals of this organization and leading the effort to raise philanthropic funds to tell the Swiss story worldwide," she said in a release.
Zurbuchen most recently served as executive director of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Madison and has more than 30 years experience as a news anchor and reporter as well as heading organizations, including being a past president of the board of the Madison chapter of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
The Swiss Center of North America chose New Glarus as its home in 1999, beating out such cities as New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, thanks to strong local and state support for the center to be located in the heart of Swiss heritage in Wisconsin. The center is devoted to celebrating, educating and understanding Swiss heritage and culture.
