Nestle Prepared Foods is recalling almost 900,000 pounds of Lean Cuisine frozen chicken meals after pieces of hard plastic were found in some packages.
The recall was announced Tuesday by the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service.
The products being recalled include 9.5-ounce packages of Lean Cuisine Pesto Chicken with Bow Tie Pasta, 10.5-ounce packages of Lean Cuisine Chicken Mediterranean and 12.5-ounce packages of Lean Cuisine Chicken Tuscan.
The pesto chicken package has production code 8280595912 and a "Best Before May 2010" use-by date.
The chicken Mediterranean package has production codes 8231595912 or 8241595912 and a "Best Before Sept. 2010" use-by date, codes 8263595912, 8269595911 or 8274595912 and a "Best Before Oct. 2010" use-by date, and codes 8291595912 or 8301595912 and a "Best Before Nov. 2010" use-by date.
The chicken Tuscan package has production codes 82349595911 and a "Best Before Sept. 2009" use-by date, codes 8253595911 or 8269595912 and a "Best Before Oct. 2009" use-by date and codes 8292595911 or 8296595911 and a "Best Before Nov. 2009" use-by date.
Each package also has an establishment number of EST P-9018. The meals were distributed nationally and were produced in August, September and October.
The Food Safety and Inspection Service has received one report of an injury because of the problem, which has been identified by the company as the product containing small pieces of a hard plastic material, not specifically identified.
