New, more thorough, information was released Wednesday by the Rock County Coroner's Office concerning the murder-suicide victims that were found dead in their Edgerton home Monday morning.
According to coroner Jenifer Keach, Jennifer Vordermann, 24, was fatally shot in the back by her husband, Shaun Vordermann, 25, during what she called a "crime of passion." Keach said Shaun accidentally had shot himself in the left foot, then died after a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
"The other (fourth) fire was a miss," Keach said.
Keach estimated the deaths to have occurred
late-Sunday night or early-Monday morning. According to Edgerton
police, this was the third time since last Wednesday that they had
been called to the couple's residence at 39 Mildred Ave.
The two previous occasions were in relation to Shaun threatening suicide. Shaun had been taken by the police to Rock County Crisis Intervention after making such threats Saturday night, but was released sometime Sunday.
Keach said members of the state crime lab were present during the autopsies to assist in collecting evidence and documentation. The crime lab also will be determining the results of the toxicology tests, which test for drugs, alcohol and prescription drugs. Keach said it would take several months before she received the test results because of the workload at the state lab.
Keach completed the autopsies Tuesday, but was asked by Edgerton police not to discuss the results with the media. Instead, Edgerton police released a statement that confirmed the deaths as a murder-suicide, with Jennifer as the victim and Shaun as the shooter.
