Ernie Pellegrino: Settlers entitled to share America

Dear Editor: I would like to take issue with the revisionist history of America as portrayed by the Farleys in a letter to the editor published May 14. I think most Americans with lineage that goes back a generation or more would take issue with their depiction of the first white men or European settlers who came to this country. Unlike the Farleys' opinion that they "came to take the land from those who were here before them," those first Europeans came here to establish a new life with freedom of religion and from persecution and to share this bountiful land with the native inhabitants, the American Indians who initially killed members of the first colonies.

The land masses that make up the earth are for all humanity to share, not just one specific race of people, including the aboriginals.
