Robert E. Nordlander: 'Exorcist' Moulton should tend to budget, taxes

Dear Editor: Rep. Terry Moulton, R-Chippewa Falls, has attacked the Freedom From Religion Foundation as a "very wacko group that is completely out of touch with mainstream America."

Well, if "mainstream America" applauds Moulton's efforts to expel Satan from the halls of a branch of the Wisconsin Legislature, then America is indeed a lost cause. An Associated Press story reported that Moulton had assumed the role of exorcist by pleading, "Come, Holy Spirit of God, ... I come against the evil one. And I ask that he be cast from this place."

Moulton should check out Isaiah 45:7, where we learn the true source of evil.

"I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things." (King James version)

I thought legislators were supposed to deal with mundane matters such as budgets and taxes. They certainly are not expected to dabble in the occult.

Robert E. Nordlander
