Keith Spruce: We need more than 'tolerance' for human rights
Dear Editor: On the particular issue of equality, Joe Biden prides our Constitution and its support for equal civil rights, while Sarah Palin is "tolerant." The difference here is that Biden and other progressives move us toward ending this last vestige of prejudice toward people born with attraction to same-sex partners, whether we fully understand this nor not, while Palin and other folk perpetuate prejudice by avoiding discussion of acceptance.
The important point here is that love, acceptance and kindness toward all people in America are higher moral values and more akin to our true virtues and our Constitution than any kind of "tolerance."
