Kim Tschudy: Slimy group backing Davis wants to starve public schools

Dear Editor: A recent political mailing to some residents of the 80th Assembly District, from a Grand Rapids, Mich., organization, All Children Matter, should have residents asking Brett Davis: What do these people want from you if they are willing to dump thousands of dollars into your campaign?

For the record, All Children Matter received a $5.2 million fine from the Ohio Elections Commission for illegally funneling $870,000 into campaigns in Ohio.

Davis may have no direct control over outside spending but you can be sure that this slimy group expects big things from Davis if he is re-elected. Residents need to know that Betsy DeVos, a director and prime financier of All Children Matter, is the sister of Erik Prince, founder of Blackwater Worldwide. Yes, the same Blackwater mercenary army of "contractors" that killed numerous innocent Iraqi citizens and gave our country a big black eye on the world stage.

Brett Davis wants residents to believe that he is "independent" but he votes with the Republican Party 97 percent of the time. Davis supported cutting $87 million from the public schools and supports private school vouchers. Oddly, that is the mission of All Children Matter: pushing private school vouchers as a fix-all and eliminating public schools through starvation of funding.

Is this the kind of representation we of the 80th Assembly District want? All Children Matter will own Brett Davis if we don't vote Davis out of office on Nov. 4.
