UW-Whitewater football team ranked No. 3 in preseason poll

Defending NCAA Division III champion Wisconsin-Whitewater is ranked third in the USA Today Sports Weekly Top 25 preseason football poll released Friday.

The Warhawks rank behind Mount Union (Ohio) and Wesley (Delaware) in the poll. The Warhawks defeated Mount Union 31-21 in last December's national title game at Salem, Va.

Wisconsin-Eau Claire was ranked No. 15 in the poll.

Wisconsin-Whitewater opens its season Friday, Sept. 5 at home against St. Xavier College.
